Cause: This is caused by a change in the data directory content. Data files acquired with earlier versions of the CE ChemStation contain a file named columns.reg that contains the capillary infomrations. Newer data files store this information in the file Acqres.reg to be consistent with all HP ChemStations. During system verification the old columns.reg is not loaded, so the comparison of the columns information fails. Only the system verification default.val supplied with the HP CE ChemStation since revision A.05.01 is affected by this problem. Temporary solution: Create a new test as described in the Tutorial "To define a System verification test" in your previous revision and ensure that you use a data file that does not contain the columns.reg file. This is the case since A.03.01. The accurcay of the quantification and integration results is not affected by this problem. Cause: Since the introduction of A.05.01, data analysis has offered the capability to suppress overlapped peak labels in the screen graphics as well as the printed reports: Graphics/Signal Options/non-overlapping peak labels Report/Specify Report/Signal Options/non-overlapping peak labels This switch is part of the data analysis method for the standard reports but not for the customer reports. In custom reports the default is to do not print overlapping peak lables, so the peaks are missing. The cause of the problem is that the 'envelope cutoff' value, which is set under Deconvolution Parameters/Advanced Options, is not used by the deconvolution program. The spectra that were giving the incorrect molecular weights had irregularly shaped spectral envelopes, and consequently because of the defect with the envelope cutoff some of the major ions in the spectra were being rejected by the deconvolution program.
